I have used TaxCut and TurboTax (from when it was MacInTax) in the past. I am unhappy with both but have trouble living without one. In particular, most of my suggestions to Turbotax have been ignored.
Let me just mention some I would like to see rather than going through the whole wish list:
- Allow search of the entire text of a tax form for key words so that you can get to a portion of interest. A computer could find the term "real estate" easily while it is difficult for people to do so.
- When leaving a form to take a look at another form, the program should take you back to the same spot on the form from which you left. Again, it is easy for a computer to do that but not for people.
- The same principle applies when looking for a particular tax form. The do not seem to be in the selection menu in any order suitable for humans. For example, I have to search for the Filing for Extension form from that mess. 1099 forms with different suffixes are all over the place.
I could go on and on. Probably everyone has their own peeves in this respect.
