Is this a place to discuss wish list for tax programs?

I have used TaxCut and TurboTax (from when it was MacInTax) in the past. I am unhappy with both but have trouble living without one. In particular, most of my suggestions to Turbotax have been ignored.

Let me just mention some I would like to see rather than going through the whole wish list:

  1. Allow search of the entire text of a tax form for key words so that you can get to a portion of interest. A computer could find the term "real estate" easily while it is difficult for people to do so.

  1. When leaving a form to take a look at another form, the program should take you back to the same spot on the form from which you left. Again, it is easy for a computer to do that but not for people.

  2. The same principle applies when looking for a particular tax form. The do not seem to be in the selection menu in any order suitable for humans. For example, I have to search for the Filing for Extension form from that mess. 1099 forms with different suffixes are all over the place.

I could go on and on. Probably everyone has their own peeves in this respect.

TurboTax does take you back to the same spot on the form if you keep the form open and use the tabs at the top to switch between forms.

In TurboTax, click the Open Form icon at the top left, then type any part of the form number or name and it will list the matching forms. If you type "extension" (without the quotes) Form 4868 will come up. If you type "1099" all the

1099 forms will be listed.

Wow! How many other gems like that are hidden in TurboTax. That one item was one of my requests some years ago. I never was informed of a solution.

Here's my suggestion:

Turbotax worksheets often split amounts from the same IRS tax form line into several worksheet lines (e.g., the Tax and Interest worksheet splits Real Estate Taxes into three lines). My wish would be for Intuit to allow the Quicken user to assign a worksheet line to categories as well (or instead) of the existing category to tax line assignments. This would eliminate the need to manually split this line each year.
