Over Contributed To 2018 HSA by $50

As written now, the HSA limit for 2018 is $6,850 +1000 catch up. I put in $6,900 +1000 catch up, before the change showed up. What do I do to correct the situation?

Thanks, Mikek

You need to withdraw the $50 plus any income it generated before April

15 or Oct 15 if you get an extension. HSA custodians should have a form for this. What did they say when you called them?

I called them, they made it easy to remove the excess contribution, and there was no charge. I ask if I needed to remove any gains and she said no and told me I had about $1.25 gain, but I think that was on the whole $7,900. so less than 1 cent on the $50. Thanks
