PTIN Renewal now open - now $63.00

Looks as if the IRS has opened PTIN renewal as the web page indicating the fee has changed.

Fee down $1.25 as compared to 2010.

I don't remember paying $64.25 exactly but if correct that means an almost 2% reduction.

Wow!

---------- I got all the way through the process yesterday, Saturday morning, but when it came to paying, it said they could not calculate my fee. I tried several times unsuccessfully. Later, that afternoon, I went back and WAS able to pay. So, if anyone else has that problem, wait a few hours or wait until the next day.

My CPA license expires in November, so I thought I'd better hurry and renew it so it would not look like I was getting a PTIN with an almost-expired license. I had a similar problem in paying the State Board. Then, this morning, Sunday, I was able to pay for the CPA license renewal.

Apparently a lot of places do web site manintenance on Saturday.

They've had a few issues. On the first day (October 19), I completed the actual renewal without a hitch, but the receipt for payment bounced because it was sent attached to an e-mail that did not have the "" characters bracketting the message-ID as is required by Internet Standard 10.
