That may well be the case now but I think it would be unsafe to assume that will always be the case.
And don't overlook the Revenue and SDLT. All their SDLT records are computerised ... very easy for them to search on those records. As SDLT introduced only on 01.12.03 it will take time for those records to build up but nevertheless their database of property transactions undoubtedly useful to the Revenue in future.
