Any thoughts on this? Any good or is a Nationwide Credit/Debit card still the best option when travelling in Europe and the US?

Actually I think I have already found the answer. From the T&Cs

under the "Applying for the Card" section: "Currently, the conversion rate we use for initial loads and Reloads is 4% above the Amex Foreign Exchange ("FX") rate for those two currencies at the time of such conversion."

Hmmm ... 4%, no thanks!

yeah, I'd heard they were ironicly one of the worst for shopping abroad. I guess since they spend a fortune on branding they're not going to throw it all away...better to rely on the fact that 90% of financial services consumers pay no attention to what they're buying (cause they don't realise they're buying a service)
