Asset Register

Any help with what this term means? In connection with a retail business.

You record your assets and descriptions with serial numbers locations and it would also be useful to indicate cost, estimated useful life and depreciation rates.

I wonder if he means 'Fixed Asset Register'; which is just those Fixed Assets often of a capital nature?
