No. Current issue notes would only get withdrawn if they had become sufficiently worn or damaged. Unlike yourself, I rarely get new notes when I withdraw from cash machines.

I've never looked that closely, but they always look perfect at a glance. Maybe they iron them? Change from a shop never looks anywhere near as good.

Of course they do, that's what's known as money laundering.
