Barclaycard and Vodafone drop Nectar points

Aug 02, 2005 7 Replies

I've had a letter from Barclaycard saying they are discontinuing the Nectar rewards scheme wef 31 August. Today, Vodafone followed suit.

I notice that the Nectar website is pre-advertising a Nectar-branded AmEx credit card, but I'm left wondering which way the Nectar scheme is going - if it was any good in the first place?

And is there any point keeping the Barclaycard any more ?

Yikes, who moved my cheese? :-D

You will recall that the letter in question started by explaining that following customer feedback, we all wanted greater security when abroad with our cards. But mentioned security no more. The next paragraph annouced the dropping of Nectar and the last paragraph something about travel insurance. I destroyed my copy since it didn't have anything that applied to me.

The person who wrote the letter signed with the most ridiculous job title I have seen in a while. If you do still have the letter please remind me. It was to my mind one of the worst letters I have ever seen from Barclaycard.

The job title you may be thinking of is: "Customer Experience Director" (That's what was on my version of said letter!)

I've had at least *three* letters from Vodafone about this... (one would have suffice).

That sounds like the one.

My Sainsbury card has cut the points it gives too.

But the leccy board is offering more.

I need a real cashback card.

The bloke obviously has his own idea of the experience that his customers want! Don't recall being asked about it.

Why? how much do you really save? They're just a con, they collect info on your spending habits and sell it to other companies.
