Bet you've never heard this ques about jobseekers benefit

This may seem like a stupid question and the answer is almost certainly no but is it possible find out if someone has claimed unemployment benefit/jobseekers allowance in the past? If it is how long do the DHSS keep records? I'm _not_ asking about myself btw.

TIA

I'll rephrase this, what I actually want is to find proof about a person who I _know_ claimed JA for a period in the past. This is all for legal reasons which I can't state here.

Pose as the third party & issue a subject access request ?! Not legal.....

Get a private detective to check ? They may well use illegal methods as they seem to be able to get hold of otherwise private information, but at least you are protected !

For the length of time, ask on the DSS newsgroup.

For length it depends on the claim but the DCI computer system holds a record (a rough one anyway) of benefits/dates claimed etc..
