Buy-to-let advisor?

The following was posted to a US group...

"Assuming those who answer this post are older than me. Imagine if you could wind the clock back to your early twenties with the "wealth" of knowledge that you have now. Here's your chance to live Vicarously through me =)"

The person was looking for an advisor.

As a property investor who started buying at 23 and had been doing so for over 20 years I was impressed. The individual recognized that they could learn the ropes from someone that had already done it before.

I am active in the buy-to-let market. If anyone is getting started or is already started but needs some advice, send me a note with your question. I like giving back by sharing what I know. I also benefit as I get to hear what other folks are thinking.

No, don't send him a note. Ask and answer here. Then more folk will benefit. There are quite a few landlords among our regulars, and I'll bet quite a few lurkers who're thinking about it.

Good on yer, but it's better for them if they post on a forum as they're likely to get more responses.

and any answers a subject to peer review. Other useful forums are - - TMF Property Investing - Practical - Landlord Zone forum - Residential Landlords Association forum and of course, the uk.finance archive .

How about a compromise?

Do both. I do not check here all the time. I do check my email.

Are you a landlord? If so, tell the group a story that has some value to the greater audience. Something that worked well or something that was not so successful.

No. Though compromise is often a good thing, in some situations it's simply inappropriate, and this is one of them, because it goes against the spirit of what newsgroups are for.

Too bad. Why don't *you* do both (check both)? It's easy enough when replying to one of your posts to send you a personal copy, but it's rather conceited to expect others to remember to include you in an original query simply because they think you might be able to help?

Yes.

Like what? I mean "I became a landlord and it's working well" is not exactly bestseller material.

The message from active_re snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.co.uk (John) contains these words:

I'd like to hear some good/funny/bad/sad experiences of buy to let, especially regards the fincial aspects. I am preparing to do just that. Main question: Does it pay? Jim
