Nobody knows. It varies from issuer to issuer.
I would not want to request a BT till I actually *had* the card and know what the credit limit is.
It may be possible to influence what the credit limit is with certain lenders by stating an amount you wish to transfer. Whetehr it influences it up or down versus what you'd have been given anyway is anybody's guess.
