Credit Card Protection

I am thinking of a holiday with Thomas Cook - it will be about a thousand pounds.

They charge a 2.5% supplement for credit cards.

If I pay the deposit of 50 gbp - plus 1.25 supplement with CC and then pay remainder later with debit card would I have the normal CC protection on the full purchase?

(NB My debit card is VISA - I have seen that you also get CC type protection with purchases made using these (ie Visa debits) - can anyone clarify - point me to a link regarding this aspect please)

Not sure re. Visa, but T.Cook strikes me as pretty sound, and surely ABTA protects you anyway.

Yes, I think so:

You wouldn't get any Consumer Credit Act Section 75 protection from a debit card. However your card issuer may provide extra protection - most likely case is if you have some kind of 'Premier' current account where you pay for extra features.

Your card issuer may allow you to do chargebacks (for example, where a vendor takes the money then disappears) on a debit card, but it's at their discretion.
