Does FSA Compensation apply to Investment Funds Cash ISAs?

Are cash ISAs, not with banks but with fund managers such as Virgin and M&G, protected by the FSA compensation scheme?

I would think so, what are the rates paid by these funds? Are they better than the banks.

M&G don't have a cash ISA as far as I can see. Virgin's cash ISA is operated by the Royal Bank of Scotland, and protected by FSCS as part of your total deposits with all divisions of RBS. Natwest and Ulsterbank are registered separately from RBS so you get separate protection for them.
