Egg website - is it always down?

Feb 29, 2004 5 Replies

Recently started having dealings with Egg again after the introduction of their 4.75% rate, but cannot believe how often the site is down. Problems last weekend (several hours), last night, and yet again this morning.

I use Cahoot, ING, First Direct etc - all with little problem, so why Egg? Is it always like this, because if it is I intend to steer well clear of them. A good rate isn't worth having if you can't use the website.

I only log on about once a month, but have never had any problem with them.

Without a hint of irony, snipped-for-privacy@easy.com (Peter P) astounded uk.finance on 29 Feb 2004 by announcing:

Last night was the only time I haven't been able to use the site.

Used em for over a year logging on about once a week, never had a problem, you must just have very bad luck :-)

Egg did announce in advance that the site would be down last night and was due back up by 9am this morning (Sunday).

At the time of writing (10:40am) the customer accounts facility still seems to be unavailable.

Yeah, I'm only a *prospective* Egg customer but a high percentage of times I've sloped over to their site to have a look round, it's been down. Sorry Egg, but it's deterred me..
