Huh?
Huh?
If you give me your wallet, it'll create *loads* of enlightenment. It will take *ounces* off your weight.
No, but if you've been wearing those silly fashionable pocketless shirts for long enough to get used to putting your money elsewhere than in your shirt pocket, then you are safe to wear *real* shirts without being tempted to put your money into the pockets therein.
At my age? Don't be daft. Oh, wait, perhaps you mean electronic memory? Well, apart from the fact that it would be to dweeby for me, I'd still need to put the device in question somewhere, wouldn't I? A shirt pocket would be ideal.

What's wrong with that?
I find it very ... er ... ... handy!

I think you'll find that some people don't waste their time in pubs!
Er, I can't remember what I meant either. Must have had one too many Pimms last night.
I can relate to that.
Exactly. Very handy for a pickpocket too.

Not when you don't let anyone within an arms length of your chest!
Well, sure, but other than locking yourself in a garret alone, or surrounding yourself only by those whom you trust, how are you going to achieve that? I suppose you could douse yourself liberally with skunk scent. Or behave obnoxiously, such as for example by arguing with all and sundry for its own sake.
Come to think of it, it might not be so difficult after all. :-)
The fact is it took just as long from the assistant saying the signature looks OK to it printing your receipt.
You reckon? I don't.
None of these pubs ever have people standing 5 deep. They are properly managed and staffed, and readily accept credit cards and run tabs.

It's for related reasons that I wonder why it's not common for trouser pockets to have zips on them, so that you can be sure nobody is able to dip into your pocket without you noticing..
In my experience in that situation you'd be given a card or token by the staff to show everytime you wanted to add something to your tab. And if you're in rounds either start a tab for all of you and split it equally at the end of the night or just pay for each round with your card as you get it.

Maybe not a small, older, pub, but like Ian I'd be hard pressed to think of any reasonablly sized pub/bar round here that doesn't happily take cards at any time, 9pm on a Saturday night 5 deep at the bar included.
Of course it might well vary depending on where in the country you are.

That's what happened for us the other day. I was given a card with the table number and time reference on it.
Many do. Or buttons.
