Love to, but you don`t have "North West" in as a location, so count one of the "outside the UK" surveys as mine...

Why the hell do you need 4 selections for London btw ?

Can I also suggest you get someone with comprehension of the english language to proof-read your questions - some of the wording is a little "awkward" - and you need a dictionary :-}

Apologies for sounding "arsey" there - I didn't realise english wasn't your first language...

Why do you think the results would have any validity?

Same here. County areas are here or Eve could use regions -

East Midlands East of England London North East North West South East South West Wales West Midlands Yorkshire and the Humber

The suggestions link doesn't appear to work either - no email address.

This may help

would any research have validity if it wasn't done to the whole on the whole population? For xample, the viewing figures for TV are based on a few thousand people and the end figures they predict could be widely out even if they have tried to include the most fair type of subjects.

Yes. Properly chosen samples can be very accurately representative.

The problem is one of self-selected samples. They are unrepresentative if there is any correlation between how likely a person seeing the invitation to take part is to agree to take part, and how they are going to answer the questions.

Consider a survey which asks the question "How often do you take part in surveys? (a) Often, (b) Sometimes, (c) Rarely, (d) Never". How many (d) answers would you expect to see?

If the survey is on the internet, quite a lot :-)

In that case they know who the respondents are, in fact have gone to a lot of trouble to pick a representative sample (you may disgaree how good it is, but at least they have made a serious effort).

In the case of an internet survey like this, not only is the sample self selecting and therefore largely invalid to start with, but more importantly they have no idea whatsoever whether the respondents are answering correctly basic questions such as how old are you, what is your sex, etc. FWIW they also give no opportunity to not answer some questions, such as what is your income, so people who dont want to answer some q's, are likely either to abandon the survey or make up an answer. Not to mention that they might not answer other questions correctly, even if they think they are. Surveys like this are a sad commentary on the university that encourages them and the student that conducts them.

Many thanks for your suggestions. I will modify them. Really! No e-mail address. When I test it, it will automatically link to your outlook express or microsoft outlook. However, I will re-test again.

==================================== why do you ask for a nick name *and* an email address?

you cant enter a new name in the nickname field if the start of it is the same as another name

if you make an error on login page you cant reenter or go back to the start

you cant backspace in the nickname or email fields you have to start again

I get 'you must select one of them' with lots of ******'s after I have selected everything after selecting a 'Degital Camera'.

I can multiply select some radio buttons, for example I can select every button on 'price' and I cant unselect them after that. Other buttons deselect unrelated buttons for example click on 'price' and then 'physical', and price radio button is deselected.

I am asked 'how happy would you be after you selected your Degital(sic) Camera". I dunno, I haven't got it yet, and I have no idea at this point in your website, how much it costs, whether it works, or when it will arrive!

Are you in fact investigating the psychology of frustrating websites rather than shopping behaviour?

====================I didnt have any feeling of frustration,I just wondered if you were trying to create some!

I also found it interesting that someone who purports to have a PhD would base any kind of study on answers derived from anonymous people with no verification that anything that they enter is correct,, even basic details like age,sex and nationality, let alone the entirely subjective answers to questions like 'how do you feel' based on completely unreal scenarios, such as 'buying' something ona pretend web site.

Are we going to see a report at sometime that says that x% of people would do A,B or C re buying decisions, where its all based on your completely unvalidated data. If not, just what is the point of your survey?
