Hi Folks

Hi folks

We recently made a payment to our credit card account which consisted of several cheques and cash. Normally we would make payments by bank transfer.

Usually I would simply enter the payment as a transfer from our cheque account, but in this instance I am not sure what to do. There doesn't seem to be a facility in which to enter a deposit directly into a credit card account... or am I missing something!

My question is how do I enter a multi-cheque and cash payment into a credit card account within QuickBooks Pro 2005/6?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ivan

Each payment would need to be entered separately. That would account for how each payment was funded. You could also do one journal entry. Debit the cc account and credit the accounts where the $ came from.

You're more likely to get help if you use a more useful subject line than "Hi Folks".

First, use a subject title that describes your topic (like I did). This helps others do a search to find this information in the future.

Second, when you reconcile your credit card account, you will be given a choice of

  • Enter a bill to be paid later -- or --
  • Write a check now

Select "Write a check now". You will be able to edit the date and amount, so you can pay less than the full amount on the first payment, and then enter additional payments as you make them.

Do exactly the same.
