Holiday Euros Update

For those who remember my question was about the best way to get holiday euros, I just wanted to update on what happened in the end.

We got the bulk of our money from my Dad at an agreed rate of 1.435, no fees of course.

While there we both used our cards in the ATM, his a switch card from the Yorkshire Bank, mine a card cash from the Nationwide. We both withdrew 50 euro from the same machine, one minute apart. Now we are home our transactions cost us as follows:

50 euro from the Yorkshire Bank cost 36.80, a rate of roughly 1.35.

50 euro from the Nationwide cost 35.12, a rate of around 1.42.

No other fees involved with either card, (note this wasn't a credit card withdrawal).

I know for future trips who to use. Everyone who said that the Nationwide give you as close to the Interbank rate as you can get were right on the money...many thanks to you all.
