Home Insurance collection

I have a life policy with Royal London, My collector used to call once a month, then two monthly and now everytime im out. As he covers a large area he is only in my area for one day in any two months. Hence he hasnt collected for some time.

My question

Am i in breach of contract for failing to pay the premium.

Thanks

No, but if you don't pay, the policy will lapse. They might reinstate it for you if you pay the back premiums but may need a declaration of health.

Ask Royal London. Some companies will set up a policy loan in these sorts of circumstances. Can't you pay by DD?

Yes i could set up a DD quite easily. But usually with a DD arent the payments slightly cheaper.

I don't understand. You *want* to pay more?

He probably wants to pay less!

Home collection policies had a charge to the policy to cover the cost of collection. Most of them have severely curtailed collections- like this one. They will then send you nasty letters about it, often with a direct debit form.

Yet they don't offer any incentive to go DD. They will still continue to charge collection to the policy.

The OP possibly doesn't want to set-up a DD whilst still paying for collection.
