How much is the payout from Standard Life demutualisation likely to be?

If/when Standard Life demutualise in 2006, how will they calculate the payout ('compensation' they're calling it) to with profits members? The office I called had no idea. Perhaps someone here is more 'in the know'.

I assumed one would get shares as members. The talk was of around 1000 in share value.

If they were taken over, I imagine members would get cash instead?

No. Nobody knows yet, certainly not anybody at SL. It will depend on what 'the market' values the company at, what formula SL decide to use to allocate shares and whether they are bought by a predator.
