I really need a loan...

Hi,

Can anyone help. I really need a loan (10k) ... as a result of this loan I stand to be a lot better off in 5 years by the time the loan is payed off, which is hard to explain, but I know my maths are right.

The problem is my credit history is plagued with my past (the result of losing a job just after taking on around 3/4k worth of debt), and a bank charge (£800+) which I just refused to pay which lead to an arrest of earnings and a CCJ. I have been banging my head against a wall with banks the past 2 years trying to plead my case and I am getting nowhere. The depression this has caused me recently found me in hospital after a near suicide attempt. I now owe it to my family to turn our life around and I just can't do it just now without this little boost of money.

I can't accept that I am in a good position to afford the loan and benefit in such a way from it, yet I will constantly be turned down because the computer says so. Somebody somewhere must know someone who has found a way around this?!?!

Thanks...

You'd stand to be a lot *worse* off in 5 years time, if you spent a 10K loan all on lottery tickets...

It's just aswell I'm not that stupid, I wouldn't spend £10 on lottery tickets in a month....

No It'd take ages getting all the tickets so you'd probably want to spread it out further.

So you have debts of approx 5k and want a loan of 10k? How will that help?

Seek debt advice from CAB and stop looking for the easy way out. You need to save to pay off your debts and that means going without.

The only people who will loan you money will be those who'll benefit massively from it - and it'll cost you loads.

Seeking proper advice about sorting out your debt is the best option.

The Lottery is a real waste of time... Take moggas advice and call the CAB to sort your finances out, perhaps declare yourself bankrupt...

I am not currently in debt, well not officially, although I do owe a little amount of money to my employers (we're talking less than a months wage)....which is a long story, but the sooner I could replace this with a conventional, the sooner I can get some people off my back.

I have been paying off debt in excess of £400 per month for the past few years...a 10k loan would be paid off around £200 per month...there are also some better prospects for me (ie. potential to earn a lot more money per month) which IS NOT POSSIBLE without first receiving this loan...

Its frustrating times for all...

FWIW...I never play the lottery...

What do you mean by "*officially* in debt"?

As in I owe money to my employers...I don't owe moneys to any banks, building societies, mortgages, loan companies, sharks, dodgy guys who break your legs as down payment etc....

My credit report is "satisfied" although a CCJ will remain on file for up to six years I believe...so I currently cannot obtain help from banks etc....

Hate to keep flogging this dead horse, but I am getting very desperate now and have just missed a lot of opportunities thanks to a lack of funds. There has to be a company who are willing to loan 10k to someone with a CCJ (£800) and no current outstanding debts.....

Heres what I need the money for.....

Employers 1500 Car 1000 Driving License + tests 300 Insurance 2000 Car Maintenance float 500 (once this is in place..I should stand a chance of progressing in my job quite quickly, meaning my month wage would go up by around 25%, obviously I want this A.S.A.P!! rather than save up forever and ever while watching all the opportunities pass me by....)

Advance month Rent + deposit 1000 Furnishing / Moving 500 (currently live in an unfurnished council flat s**t hole and I have two children who I feel are suffering with a considerably poorer quality of life than their friends, so we are looking at rented furnished premises, but this is expensive, around the 4-500 per month mark, and requires a month up front in advance as well as a month's worth of a desposit. We are just as keen to move as quick as we can, and don't have the time to save the money as well as the money we will need above for the transportation which would be needed anyway for moving, as central property costs a fortune....)

Misc Loans to pay off 1000 Month Wage Emergency Fund 1500 CC Deposit (CC needed for business expenses) 200

2 months contingency repayment 500

(some "loans" to pay off (catalogues, the girlfriends, as well as friends who have loaned us money over the years, a month "emergency fund" as if I was to be as unlucky as to lose my job tomorrow, we would be on the streets in a matter of days...deposit for a capone secured credit card, as I need to use a CC in my work, so am unable to do certain things as I don't have one....theres also been many a time we've gone shopping only to find out the electron card isn't accepted, then had to hold up a queue while we find the nearest cash machine) I have also budgeted 2 month contingency repayment just as my wages will not obviously go up straight away...so it gives us a bit of a breather to get used to the new repayment schedule. I am currently paying off my employers at around the same value of a 10k loan over 5 years, and was paying in excess of 400 per month for a few years before that, so I certainly don't have a high standard of living and it would be a seamless transition from paying my employers to paying my bank.....it would also just be absolutely great to know that while I am giving away a small percentage of my wage for a while, I actually see something very worthwhile for it, immediate benefits, rather than paying for goods which have been dead for years.....

This is loans from your employers, right? Looks bad not just to lump it in with "misc loans" below.

Why do you need 1000 to spend on your car? What's wrong with it?

Oh, you don't even have a licence yet? Why do you have a car which needs a 1000 repair, then? Oh my gawd, you're thinking of buying a 1000 car? Hmm. Will it be reliable?

Eh? That's a lot of money for car insurance, especially for a

1000 car.

So far that's 3800 you've earmarked for spending on a car you can't afford. You could buy a lot of bicycles for that, or even a few mopeds and waterproof suits to go with them.

What opportunities? What *is* your job? How would owning a wreck of a car help your job progress?

You call that expensive? How much is your council rent? How much do you actually earn? Can you afford to pay the rent *and* repay the 10k loan? It seems to me you can't afford to move to the private sector.

If you need a cc for work, why doesn't work provide one? This doesn't ring true, and makes you look a poor risk for a loan.

Fair point

I have owned two cars in my life, both of which cost £400, and were very reliable cars yes...

I am under 25, and have previously been banned for driving without insurance due to running into arrears...

I own a bike, its great for nipping around, but it isn't very practical for shopping, picking up the kids, day trips, getting to work on time, transporting work equipment...

I have been told I'm "useless" to the company as a non driver....it means they can't chuck me on a plane and pick up a hire car, or locally, can't be relied on to get from A to B very quickly and possibly transport equipment...

Yes 4/500 a month *is* expensive....it was only a few years ago I only earned £700 a month! As I've stressed, I am already paying off loans and have been doing so forever....I want to see something in return for it...a new place to stay would be a great start

Its not just for work, heres an example, I was in London the other month and had to book a train in advance online, the company didn't accept the electron card I have so I had to wait till I was at the station to pay cash for the ticket...needless to say, it ended up costing a hell of a lot more, also when I was driving, I ended up needing petrol at the world most remote petrol station ever, they didn't accept a solo card either, guess what I had to do....its impractical not having a CC card....also, if my work were to send me away, I'm expected to pay for everythinig myself, and then claim it back on expenses. When this happened with my work, everyone else was able to stick their expenses on their credit card, so they weren't breaking into their real money, then pay off the card when work pays up. I wasn't able to do this, I had to pay up cash first....which meant I ran out of money very quick and got stuck many times having no money for transport, a hotel when I've been locked out the flat we were staying at etc.....

You ran into the arrears of cars?

OK, so you couldn't afford to pay your insurance, but you drove anyway. If I were your employer, I wouldn't encourage you to drive.

With that attitude, don't you see that a potential lender will view this similarly, i.e. that if you can't afford to repay the loan, you just won't, and having spent it all, expect to get away with just saying "sorry"?

You can get attachments for those.

Bus. Train.

Rubbish. Bikes tend to be more immune to traffic jams than cars. Of course if you live too far from work, that's partly your own fault.

Couldn't the GF get a car and insurance more cheaply, and drop you off, and the kids, and then go shopping?

What job is it you do that requires you to transport equipment and they don't do it for you? Seems to me you're in the wrong job. If you do get your licence and insurance back, you may well lose it again.

Hmm. Around here you pay that for a 1-bedroom flat. For something big enough for a family of four (?) you'd be looking at £7/800.

Does the madness of this not leap out at you? Have you done a cash flow plan? You want a loan that'll cost you £200 a month for 5 years, money you're not currently spending, *and* you also want to spend (ay) £200 a month more on housing than you are at the moment, and you need to meet running costs of a car, which'll probably be another £200 a month. Where is the extra £600 of income going to come from to meet all this (and that'll still leave you no better off in terms of being able to build savings)?

I am currently paying 220 a month to my employers....I earn about 400 a month less than I should as I have no car (don't ask me why that is...) if we move somewhere else my partner can possibly pick up evening work, another 400 a month perhaps which can help towards savings. It sounds like a no brainer to me....I don't think its too much to ask, people who earn less than me at my work owe more money than that on a car....
