It's not clear from the above whether you're saying the money has disappeared via DD from your normal account but is still not showing in your ice account, i.e. the money has been "in limbo" for 2 weeks, or whether there appears simply to be a backlog in processing new applications, with the money not even having gone into limbo yet.
I would have thought that once set up properly, transfers would take only 3 days.

Read the instructions. Your first payment has to be by cheque or electronic transfer. DDs apply to subsequent transfers.
yeah sorry my fault, but why when you select to transfer inital fund DD why do they ask you how much you want your initial deposit to be if they dont do it?????
Maybe the same reason they can't format a date in an email header correctly; maybe the same reason they swear blind they don't send out html email messages ("they're plain text sir").
I've been on the point of closing my own new account because of their apparent idiocies.
For me the application process was flawless, unlike a previous attempt at ICICI, and subsequent operation of the account has been flawless too. IMHO just one small blot, they include a hyperlink to their website in a plain text email and that is not good practice. And yes, one of their emails was HTML. Not been aware of any date formatting problems.

Curious. Spamassassin made quite a meal of one of their emails - which was flagged with lots of spam indicators. They'd managed to repeat the time zone on the 'Date:' header line, the whole lot (subject, 'from' and 'to' addresses too) was MIME-encoded (why oh why?????) .... And then they told me:
"We have passed your email over to our technical team, they have asked if your use Outlook Express and product called mcaffe spamguard/spamkiller. .... We do send plain text emails however all of our emails are passed through a message scanning service which also adds our disclaimer, hence why mcaffe picks this up as an html email."
What a load of garbage -- I'm surprised they didn't tell me to clear cookies and IE cache too for good measure :-) I can only hope their financial people are better than the technical dept.

I was thinking about opening an account but they have failed to reply to my emails, twice, so I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Quite. FWIW I also have an application in progress. The confirmation e-mail was certainly in plain text:
However despite a statement on the web site that "the DD mandate would not be set up until your account has been activated" (or words to that effect) I found a DD mandate in favour of Landsbanki Islands on my account the day after I made the application. Since I haven't yet received the postal pack with userid, etc. yet they do seem to have jumped the gun and broken their own promise with regard to the DD.
Have been dealing with them for about two months and have had nothing but excellent service.....
Just goes to show then.
