I have about 500,000 in a pension fund. I am going to buy an annuity. I do not want to take any risk at all.
I am planning to take a level annuity with one of the current "top of the league" providers (thanks to previous posters' advice / links)
I would like to know pros and cons of using an IFA - do I really need one for such a straightforward wish?
Also if I go with one - am I told what their commission is - I really cannot see that an IFA is going to benefit me - (it will obviously benefit them!!).
Why should I not use one and have the "commission" myself?
If I go with one - should I require certain qualifications/experience?
Please can anyone persuade me I am right or wrong?
