Landlords Insurance

Can anyone recommend an insurer for my rented property?

I have 3 houses, rented to prof and students in the Manchester area.

As usual with insurers, different insurers may be better for different properties.

Someone once told me that paymentshield were good, but they don't deal direct with the public. I'd take a visit to a broker.

I think most insurers who do deal direct don't offer landlord insurance.

Many rental agencies also broker this type of insurance (or have a mate who does). Some of them don't mind taking the insurance business even for landlords who don't use them to manage their property.

It works for me.

Norwich Union Direct, but you have to phone them on their freephone number, gives it to you when you start to do a quote. Gives me 66K of building cover for 112pa. No special tenant type cover but have never found that sort of cover worth having.

Mine's with Norwich Union too, as it happens, but not "Direct". £145k buildings for £152, plus £8k contents for £59, plus £2M public liability for £53.

What do you mean by "special tenant type" cover?

Cover for rent not being paid, damage by tenant and the like. Homelet do offer a wider range of insurance cover, covering this sort of event but at a higher price. However the cover is so hemed in by restrictions and limits that I do not find it to be of any interest
