Maestro card question

Maestro card questions.

Pardon my grammar.

I did read a paper that Mastercard is getting rid of the Maestro Brand and switching to Mastercard debit card.

Maestro was always used as a pin transaction even before chip & pin.

Since Mastercard I assume is converting all cards Maestro worldwide to Mastercard debit card. What is going to happen to those merchant who just take pin based Maestro debit cards?
