Mint credit limit

Last month I took out a Mint card and was offered a credit limit of £2500. I didn't ask for any balance transfers when I applied though am now making use of the 0% introductory offer for purchases and transfers. I would like a higher credit limit than this to do another balance transfer (at a transfer rate of 2.5%) but wasn't sure if they would allow this given I have only had the card a month.

Is it worth the risk asking for a new credit limit or should I try to take out another interest free credit card instead?

I don't think there's any risk in asking for a new credit limit. The worst that can happen is that they'll say "no", and I wouldn't have thought it would result in a credit search, especially as you've only had the card a month.

On the other hand, most issuers won't consider such a request until you've had the account for at least six months.

Who owns Mint? Is it one of the major banks, or is it an independent bank or company?

Aren't the major banks independent?

Plus it says so on the back of my mint card.

Thanks. I just assumed they'd do another credit search.

My experience with lenders is that they're only interested in the conduct of your account when considering credit limit increases. Being near your current limit helps, not that I'm encouraging you to go out and buy that new plasma telly.
