Credit Card

Hi all

I've always been a 2nd cardholder on my husband's credit card accounts and I've got one credit card with a small balance in my own name only, with Virgin, on which the introductory 0% rate is just about to finish.....BUT I'm a housewife with no earned income of my own - does anyone know of any other card companies that would be likely to offer me a card? Preferably with 0% balance transfer and 0% introductory rate or cashback.

TIA

I've an idea. Lie and say you do have income. Whats the worst that can happen.

It has been alleged in this group previously (a year or so ago?) that if you lie with the intention of not paying the money this could be classed as a criminal offence. OTOH if you lie with the intention of paying back the money, the worst case scenario outlined was that you would have a CIFAS flag placed on your credit file at credit agencies - since you are married this would be placed on your husbands file as well as you are financially linked. This could result in difficulties obtaining credit in the future for both of you. There is of course a grey area here - what if you lie with the intention of paying back the money but for reasons unknown you don't? IANAL and these are merely replies that have been given in the past on this group.

Don't most credit card application forms have a warning on them saying something along the lines of "it is a criminal offence to lie on this form"? Or "I confirm that all the above information is correct"?

Its probably a criminal offence to lie and obtain the credit (obtaining money by false pretences or whatever) , but if you lie and they don't give you the card then no offence and if you lie , they give you the card and make all repayments then you have'nt obtained the money and they wouldn't care anyway?

What about if the credit card company lies to you with the intention of obtaining money from you?

But its not a criminal offence to lie, as long as you're not intending to do commit fraud in doing so. So that makes their statement a lie in itself.
