co-op visa card

Just applied for 0% on balance transfer and purchases - does any one know if you can only transfer a balance on opening by filling in the form at the bottom of the initial credit agreement form I've just been sent to sign or can I transfer a balance in a month's time when the 0% period on my halifax visa runs out? TIA L

I never fill in the form on the application form. I always wait till the card arrives and then do it. You can with co-op, although I can't remember if you have to do it within the first six weeks of opening the account. I do know that the six months starts ticking from the date of the transfer, not like some credit card companies who do it six months from when the account is opened. That pisses me off because it can sometimes be two or three weeks after the account is opened when the card eventually arrives.

Which Co-op VISA have you got? I used to have one of their cards (now changed to a Platinum Advantage) where you couldn't set the direct debit up to pay the full amount every month - it's OK if you've got a balance transfer but if you want to revert to using it as a normal card when the initial six months is up it's useless - of course you could make the full payment yourself but I prefer to pay everything by DD so I don't even have to think about it.

Would you rather they gave you just 5 months, but from the date of transfer rather than opening??
