Mortgate spreadsheet wanted

I have a flexible mortgage which can be overpaid/underpaid etc and it is also on a slight discount at the moment.

I'd like to create or obtain a spreadsheet so my children can track the mortgage payments each month and the amount remaining to pay. The mortgage has about 4 years left to run, at the end of which the wife and I have promised the kids a trip down under to Oz by way of celebration. Also, it will be my eldest 18th that year.

Is there a spreadsheet available that I can use to track my mortgage coming down each month with each payment? Not all payments are the same, as some months I overpay it.

thanks

Whoa who whoa! Here is a fantastic chance for you and the kids to learn Excel. Get Office Pro at a student discount (ie in the name of the kids) and build your spreadsheet from scratch with charts, spinners, sliders etc etc etc. Great fun and perhaps the most powerful skill you/they will ever learn.

The mortgage company will probably have a calculator on its website if you don't want the fun of making your own spreadsheet.

Even better, you can download OpenOffice (get the Version 2 beta) from the internet for free. Then enjoy learning Calc (it's Excel compatible) knowing you've done Microsoft out of their cut.

One of the older versions of Excel has a Loan template which can show the monthly capital position. It's a bit basic but may do what you want.

I can e-mail you a copy if you don't have one - it's about 74kb in Zip format.

I'd like to try that, if you don't mind, Doug.

I have got Excel from Office 97 so I'll have a look at the template in that. I've not used Excel much before so I'll have a bash.

many thanks
