My Inflation Rate

According to the calculator at:

Is 6.6%, compared to the RPI of around 5%, but because I have no mortgage I should be closer to the CPI, which is 4%.

I've often used the one from the ONS. It always gives my inflation level as /much/ higher than the CPI /and/ the RPI. No-one I know who has used it has ever got a figure lower or the same as the official figures. I think the official figures are deliberately manipulated to give the values they want.

The things that seem to be rising fastest are the essentials such as food and fuel. Discretionary spending on nice big TVs and the like is suffering much lower inflation, and they help keep the official figure low but if you can't afford any of those......

He's smart, but I'm smarter. For lunch today I ate a portion of a 32" plasma TV, and later snacked on an iPOD.
