Penion payment balls up

Apr 07, 2004 2 Replies

Discovered today that the Pension Services (aka Department of Work & Pensions) hasn't paid my mothers pension since the beginning of February. As a result, my mothers been drawing on her savings to live on. She's an elderly lady and is often confused about minor things so when the pension service insisted she had her pension paid directly into her back account, she just agreed without any thought about what might or might not happen. She's had no letters (or none that she recalls) saying why her payments have stopped. She only mentioned it to me in passing whilst we were on the phone chatting about the weather!! I am absolutly livid with the Pension Service - they're a complete bunch of useless tossers. This isn't the first time they got it wrong. They made a balls up when she first retired and she didn't get paid anything for several weeks, and then when they worked out her pension credit, they got it completely wrong.

And this is what we've all got to look forward to?

What do you expect? It is a government department!

My sympathies to your Mum - though at least she DID have some savings to fall back on until it is sorted. Hope you fix it soon.

Look on the bright side - you might not live that long.
