What is average pension in Britain today?

Google is useless. All the hits I get will NOT give me one single figure. I'm talking about those in receipt of a pension and what the figure is, approximately, if averaged across all such recipients, whether a single OAP with little past earnings or a city fat cat, and also irrespective of who pays the pension, state and/or private.

MM

UK adults retiring in 2008 will be drawing an average annual income of £18,663 (around £5,000 less than the average income for a working adult in the UK) according to the Prudential Class of 2008 research, a survey of UK adults retiring this year.

P.S. That survey also revealed a significant gender split, with men expecting to retire on an average annual income of £20,790 and women on £11,291.
