Quick question: ex declared bankrupt. Credit rating

Quick question for a friend!

Ex has been declared bankrupt. The previous marital home is listed in the order.

He is divorced (within the last 12 months), and left the former marital home about 12 months ago (she left the marital home about 2 years previous). When they were married there would have been a joint account & loans.

Is there any connection between the two in terms of credit reporting? Should any "disassociation" be filed?

Any advice?

Doesn't do any harm. It might fail because they *are* associated. My understanding is that where there's joint ownership, it's split 50:50.

perhaps we need more info:

home where they both lives was rented - there was no joint ownership or owned assets. only joint "financial" were bank account/loan at time of marriage, which are now closed.

However her previous address (as listed on the bankruptcy order), is be the same as his previous address. and at one time when she lived there they were associated (via bank account - how long do links last?)

Six years, unless you file a notice of disassociation.

If a recently divorced person goes bankrupt, their ex spouse can be raided for assets, too.

It depends on whether the asset transfer (away from the one that's just gone bankrupt) was done under a court order, or voluntarily. Of the latter, the transfer can be regarded as undervalue and unwound!!

My ex (not yet divorced though plan to be soon, separated about 19 months) has just told me he's going to declare himself bankrupt in the near future. We never really had any assets to share and there has been no agreement legal or otherwise, but I know he has debts. Am I likely to be asked to pay these debts?
