Re: Time to ban boring players from playing snooker?

I agree with this subject.... when Peter Ebdon was playing, I thought my Sky Box crashed! Several times. Then I realised he really was just slow!

Just be grateful that Messrs Griffiths and Thorburn aren't doing too much these days then :-)

Players generally seem to have speeded up with a small number of execptions). In the past they used to wander around the table several times examining the shot from about 10 different angles before playing the shot.

My guess is that he was labouring under the misapprehension that snooker is a spectator sport. In fact snooker, billiards, pool, darts and golf are moderately entertaining to take part in, but utterly pointless to watch.

I find that pool is much more fun to play once I've drunk so much that the cue is required for support. At this point, my pool playing improves substantially and I can usually repeatedly clear tables and generally surprise people with my ball control for about an hour before I collapse of alcohol poisoning.

I have to admit that as far as I'm concerned the main appeal of pool and darts is that they both generally involve copious quantities of alcohol. I have the added advantage of being utter crap at both when sober, so I can drink as much as I like and my game doesn't get much worse.

I quite agree!

OK. Another 30 or 40 million people and we might be able to send the BBC a petition that could get them to finally agree that no matter how cheap the bloody snooker is, they'd be offering more entertainment by televising the Ryamn League, Irish schoolboy rugby, or even bog snorkeling [1].

[1] Which isn't all that exciting either but at least involves the participants looking utterly undignified.

I really enjoy watching snooker, particularly if one of the great players[1] (as opposed to potters) is playing; billiards, pool, darts, golf, I concur.
