Your childish insult doesn't change the fact that shops do not sell things for under 5p, so there is no point in 1p and 2p coins.
They still sell things for £1.99, though.

Which is stupid. Call it £2, they're fooling nobody. Nobody is stupid enough to think £1.99 is cheaper than £2. If anything all those nines would fool people into thinking it's MORE.

That's why they limit them to £20. Now think what would happen if you'd lost a £20 note or three. Exactly the same, except completely untraceable.
But if stores really believe that £4.99 looks a lot less than £5, then they will lose sales....
Actually you'd need to remove the 1p and the 2p together, or things would just get messy. Imagine we had 2p coins but no 1p coins. You buy something for £4.99, you have to give them a fiver and two 2p coins, then they give you a 5p change.
