Russians in London - tax policy

Jul 14, 2006 3 Replies

Reading about the UK tax policy on not taxing world wide earnings is a major factor in the ruski takeover of London

Does this mean they pay in Russia and nothing here ?

What if they own a business here like Abromovich ?

Also , if theyre in a country that does tax world wide income how does that work ?

any expert opinion welcome

They will almost certainly pay tax in Russia. Depends on russian tax rules though. They pay tax on uk earnings here.

They pay tax on that.

Normally there will be double taxation relief.

They are non-domiciled, so pay zero (UK) tax on overseas income as long as it is not remitted to the UK.

I don't think Chelsea will have to pay tax for a long time!
