Selling endowment - original arranger still has charge on it

Been told that by the broker selling my endowment that it appears that the original arranger (Natwest Home Loans) still have a charge on this (from 1993 !) and that I need to get them to agree that they no longer have an interest.

I've not had a Natwest mortgage for years and I'm betting that its going to be hassle because Natwest ahve probably lost all the documentation for this. (They claimed this when I successfully got them on endowment mis-selling).

Is this normal behaviour? Surely its my policy and I can what I want with it?

I found lots of charges against my policies when I sold them in 2001. One of which was Nat West Home Loans. I just got hold of each lenders mortgage department, and it resolved itself from there.

Yes. The fault lies with the solicitor who was handling the transaction that caused the Natwest mortgage to be repaid, not with Natwest. All you need do is contact natwest (with a mortgage account number if you can find it) and they will either re-assign the policy to you or write confirming that they have no further interest in it.

Thats right.

It's very normal, I've dealt with so many people who didn't realise their endowments were still assigned to a lender, Natwest should sort it our with little bother.
