small income and tax query

Hi folks, wonder if you could help with a few queries. Redundunt 55'sh yo , job seeker's allowance claimant and then subsequent early retiree on occupational pension. Will/should he have been credited with his NIC payments at all if any? That is other than the job seekers period which was only a matter of only 7 or 8 weeks at the beginning 8 years ago? Jim

Almost certainly not, at least until the age of 60 (when there should be automatic credits for people not employed). Ask the NIC people at Newcastle for a pension forecast (form BR12 .. available on line as a PDF .. google for it) and they'll tell you if you need to make some voluntary contributions to get a full state pension.

Do it soon, because 8 years is already, probably, beyond the window which they will accept back payments for.
