Strange notion of a Credit Card

Feb 13, 2004 2 Replies

Hi,

Has anyone heard of the "Vanquis Bank" who seem to be offering the "Vanquis Card"?

Looks like they do two types of cards depending on credit limit, one is Visa and one is Visa Electron, this is where the confusion is, The card is supposed to be a Credit card but on the front it says "Debit Card" with the "Visa Electron" logo, So is it a credit card or a debit card?

John.

Without a hint of irony, "John Dowd" astounded uk.finance on 13 Feb

2004 by announcing:

Electron is a debit card.

If the money comes straight out of you current account it is a debit or eftpos card (e.g. visa electron, delta). If there is a credit limit and you get a bill/statement to pay each month it is a credit card (e.g. visa, MasterCard).

If it says "debit card" then that is what it is. When you apply it should be clear how payments will be made.
