A few years ago, I opened an account with Datek who provided me with me a cheque book, so I could write cheques in US dollars. I liked the setup. Unfortunately Ameritrade which took over Datek now requires me to have an acount value of $5000 before I can order checks. Do any of the online brokers allow you to order checks regardless of the value of your portfolio?
I basically need a US dollar checking account.... but for a balance of under $5000, usually - but I like to speculate with the funds rather than have them sitting in a regular bank account. Anyone recommend an alternative online US broker I could try?
