TBH I'm surprised it's that much! The UK is so expensive for just about everything, we're even catching up with Scandinavia! We were in France this August, and even peak season it's easy to get good quality hotels for half the price of here, and eating out we found two bars doing 4 course meals including 50cl of wine for 9 Euros (6)! On our last night we decided to splash out and go to a posh restaurant - had an excellent 2 course meal (no room for pud!) and it came to 59 Euros (40) for 4 of us including wine. A similar restaurant in the UK we'd have been lucky to see change from 100.
