Which UK Business bank?

Nov 03, 2004 1 Replies

I want a new business account for a different brand of product I sell. It will have very little activity in the account, maybe one or two transactions per month. Mainly, it will receive a dollar cheque that will be converted into Sterling.

Also, if this is relevant, I will be using a business address which is not where my current business is. I pay a 20 fee per month to get to use prestigious sounding address. My mail is forwarded onto me.

Any suggestions on who I should go for? I need to set this up quickly.

What do they charge to convert a $5,000 cheque into Sterling?

If I am "trading as" can I just have "My Widget Business" on the cheques and credit cards rather than, "My Name trading as My Widget Business".

Bank of scotland have interesting charges for $ cheques over £1000 - its about $60 tops though I think... The charges aren't on any leaflets though...

You'll need various ID to open an account - and they're fussy about this. So you might be better asking at where you have your existing bank account as they might require less.
