Small Business Free Banking

My bank are trying to impose charges after having had eight years of no charges. We are a small two partner business trading over Vat but with only about 10 cheques or ATM's, three DD's and 3/4 payments in per month. The average balance over the past year has been no less than 15,000 and up to

29,000. Any thoughts on who may give free banking?

Although have you told your bank that you will move if they impose charges?

They will pay interest on balances so you will actually make money from the account (not much).

Their interest rates on savings have been slashed to bits though.

AFAIK Bank of Scotland charge for cheques you issue unless you keep a certain amount in the account.

Abbey do not charge for the number of cheques you are talking about.

Also, with Abbey, you can open a Reserve account online and move any spare cash into it, earning you interest (that's where my VAT and tax monies go whilst awaiting payment).
