If a married man receiving a pension from an occupational scheme dies, his widow will normally continue to receive a (probably reduced) pension. Is it usual for this to cease if she remarries? If she starts to live with a man but unmarried?
I suspect that this will be down to the rules of the scheme, but I'm interested in whether there is a "standard" answer covering 80% of such schemes.

More information would help- as what 80 or even 99% of schemes do is no use if it doesn't include the one you want. I'm in a local government scheme and they pay 50% of pension as a widows/widowers pension until death- It does not stop if the person remarries

Thanks very much for that. I believe it's a private sector scheme, and I'll investigate its rules. I just wondered whether there was a generally applicable answer -- presumably not!
