register: how change from 1 line view to 2 line view

Jun 02, 2011 Last reply: 5 years ago 17 Replies

Last week I changed a check register to one-line display and I cannot find a way to get it back to two lines so I can enter some transactions. There is no entry in the index beginning with "one...". The view tab is worthless; it drops down to show one entry "account overview" and once you pick that you are shown worthless pie charts.

I don't see any way to get back out of account review. All my other accounts show two lines of problem. I've been away from the program for about two weeks so I lost all my new skills but I wish I had Q5 back again. Any help will be appreciated. John P

In Quicken 2011 Deluxe, it's under the "Account Actions" dropdown, in "Register Views and Preferences."

Thank you but I was not able to do it. I could not find "register views and preferences" inQ2010. I had even written myself a note to go to register\view\by one line but I am now not able to obey my instructions! This is a function that cries out to be a right-click option. The one-line mode is useful for printing out checks sorted by payee for reference. I would be glad to try out something else. John P.

In Q2011, in addition to the above, there is a shortcut key listed: CTRL+2 That is a toggle for me (Q11) between 1- and 2-line display.

Under "Account Actions", there should be a section marked "Register Views and Preferences". The first line is "Two line display". Check it for two lines or uncheck it for a single line display. I don't know what's wrong if you don't see that, I'm also using Q2010.

I think you have to have an account open to see those options.

I have found the account actions and have even got down to the two line display where also shows Ctl 2 but these don't have any affect on what is showing in the register. Which is not the register of checks that I'm interested in: The title is Bill and income reminders (8 due). In other words I don't know how to get the real register to the screen that would show actual transactions to date, not just entries from scheduled trans actions. Q10 is totally opaque to me. Any advice appreciated. John P.

I think you need to play around Quicken a little more. Or get a Dummies book.

No, the answer is, this week just as it was last week, to click on the little teeny down arrow that appears at the right hand end of the Bill and Income line, which you get instead of the register if you are looking at (or inadvertently looking at) scheduled transactions. That little three pixel icon is your secret to getting out of jail (yes I know it saves bandwidth). This smacks of necromancy and I'm all for making it a right-click option.

Edit->Preference Select "Investment Transactions" Select "List Display"

I agree with "Ctrl 2" You may have to be in the correct register for it to work... not sure.

I totally agree!!! I hate this version!!! How do I get the old version back? Any idea? I don't need to connect to internet, I understand how to use and reconcile without connecting.

You agree with *what*? You hate *what* version?

Since you quoted nothing, your message is unintelligible.

Don't blame Bridgette, blame Beansmart. That is where she posted. She has no idea we exist here.

If you say so. I have no idea of anything about Beansmart. I've never heard of it before, but it sounds like it's something I don't *want* to know anything about.

Suspect Bridget hasn't discovered the Register display option (Ctl-2).
