v2007 Peer to Peer Installation Troubles - Can't Ping File Share System

Hi Gang,

I'm unable to install workstation computers with Peachtree in my Peer to Peer network. I have installed Peachtree on a fast system and shared the data folder as the P:\Cpmpany on the other systems. However, when I try to install Peachtree and connect back to that P:\ network share, I get a can't ping system error during installation. I don't know why it is even trying to ping the share system since the P:\ drive is completely visible. However, even when I run a ping command from a Windows XP command prompt I get "request timed out" errors vs. the number of miliseconds. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Christian Blackburn

Okay here's a screenshot of the exact error I'm getting during installation:

Has nobody else run into this?

No idea about your error message. Have you tried posting in the Peachtree Users Forum? It more active than this newsgroup and there are numerous folks that have been using 2007.

Hi Laura,

I hadn't noticed that users forum. Thank you so much, this group is indeed not active enough to get the kind of help I need. You are a life saver. We're trying to avoid a $269 support subscription if possible.

Thank you so much, Christian

Hi Gang,

I just thought I'd reply with how to fix this. I was using a Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) Computer as the server and Windows XP Home as the client. If you switch that and make XP Home the server it works fine :). Hooray. Also there may be issues with having the \Company\ folder on a driver other than C:\. I don't know if that's true, but it's something the support technician wanted me to do. Also AVG Anti-VIrus is compatible with PeachTree.

Cheers, Christian Blackburn
