1.3R on Windows Vista

I need to get a new office workstation, the machine i want is only availalbe with Vista, will i be able to run RMS 1.3R (with most recent hot fixes) on this machine?

I know RMS 2.0 is compatible with Vista - but I am still on 1.3.

I can always buy the machine and load XP onto it, but i dont really want to do this unless i really must!!!!

We put 1.3 on a Vista test machine and it was able to run just fine. That being said we did not extensively test all aspects of it, and customization worked sporadically because of the way Vista tries to emulate XP when dealing with programs not written to be Vista compliant. All I can say is give it a whirl.

If it doesn't run natively, Virtual PC 7 is free from MS. You can build an XP machine with network access and just operate the tools in the virtual machine. It's cumbersome and annoying if you need to do something small and fast but it will at least get it running if it's not working right under Vista.

I was just about to ask the same question. I am currently in the market for a new machine and wanted to get one with Vista Business instead of XP so I will be ready to go when RMS 3.0 comes out next year. Is anyone currently running RMS 1.3R on a Vista machine? What if any problems are you having that specifically come from running it in the Vista enviroment?

Thanks for the info guys!

I ran the upgrade advisor on a machine with RMS 1.3 installed and it didnt give me any reason to belive it wont work!

I'm assuming there is a clean cut yes or no as to whether its supported on vista! i just cant find that clean cut answer anywere!! :)

Has anybody used an Epson TM88-IV USB printer in Virtual PC7? If so did it work properly? Any other issues or problems and potential workarounds using RMS (2.0) and USB devices under Virtual PC7?
