Connection to DB in Windows Vista could not be located

Dear all,

I have recently installed RMS V2.0 with SP1 on Windows Vista. RMS is running fine (on stand alone PC) until it was plug into the network with other SQL Server running on other systems. This is when the problem begins, RMS take a long time to search for the DB which is located on the local machine. Both SO Manager and SO POS takes approximately 5-10 minutes to open. I have tried putting in the IP address and machine name at the SO Administrator and still fail. If i remove from network then it will run again without any problem. I have tried installing RMS V2.0 in Windows XP and it is running fine with the network plug in. The network connection is needed so the management side could access the SO Manager.

I suspected Windows Vista is trying to locate all the DB on the server. Is there anyway to disable this and only allows it to look at the local machine? Any suggestion is much appreaciated. Thank you.

Regards, Ethan

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have updated RMS to the latest version and the problem still persist whenever I plug the machine to the network (there are others machine running on SQL server on different version on the network).

I have tried putting the IP address, computer name and (local) but nothing works. RMS only be able to boot up if I unplug the machine from the network, otherwise it will take at least 15 minutes for it to boot up.

"Jeff @ Check Po> Ethan,

older versions. Current is 2.0.0114.

looking for another DB. If the main DB (not the offline db) is on the Vista machine the database Server Name field in SO Admin should be (local), . (that's a period) or the IP address of the Vista machine, both on the Connect AND the Configuration pages.
