Database connection lost, application will be closed ERROR

While testing RMS 2.0 I'm getting this error

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Database connection lost, application will be closed Error #-2147467259 [DBNETLIB][ConnectionWrite (send()).]General network error. Chech your network documentation. (Source:Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (SQL State: 08S01) (NativeError: 11) No Help file available

SELECT GETDATA() AS CurrentDateTime """"""""""""""""""""" the odd part is that i'm getting this error on a single PC setup(POS is the database server) no network connections to server, database is local. Anyone knows what might cause this and how to fix this ? I'm not sure if i loose any data when this happens, but i can not take a chance of this happening on production system

I get this at random, sometimes the system is idle and when i look at the screen it shows up. There doesn't seem to be any pattern, Sometimes i will get the error after 30 minutes sometimes after few hours.

I have a single PC setup as well. A few weeks ago I attached the system to a wireless router so I could use a laptop to do some data access. The router seemed to do resets randomly on the LAN side, at least. Every time the LAN link would drop the connection to the database error would follow.

So, do you have a LAN c> I get this at random, sometimes the system is idle and when i look at the

We have suddenly started having this problem - after years of running RMS. I did add a wireless router to the setup, but the POS/DB server system is not attached to the router. The other piece to the puzzle is this did not happen until after I upgraded the database from MSDE to SQL Server 2005 as a pre-req before going to RMS 2.0 (which I have not done yet). Don't know if this real culprit?

Well this might be the problem.

I was able to duplicate this error on my desktop /server computer. When i unplug the cable or disable the adapter i get the error. The interesting part is;

If i disable or unplug the network card/cable than start RMS software than enable plug in the network cable, the error does not occur even if i disable unplug the cable over and over. The error only occurs if I run RMS software after you established the network connection, as one normally would.

For now i know how to prevent it but its a bit troublesome solution.

Robert,

Any way you can give me more of an outline on what you did to fix this problem? I am getting the same error message (I have two computers networked together). I get the error message on both computers, but the host computer (our POS) gave me that message about 20 times at least today. I tried unplugging the network cable and replugging it back in and then opening up and connecting RMS, but that did not work for me.

I am also getting a really odd blue screen on our back computer that says "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation, or backup utilities. . . ."

Any ideas what is going on here?

Thanks, Kat
