1 Lane Vista, 2 Lanes XP?

We have a three lane store where one of the machines has crashed requiring the user to purchase a new box. I have sent the user our specific system build guidelines (which include XP), but the user would like to buy a Vista OS.

I have read in the groups:

- RMS 1.3 will work with Vista

- 2.0 can be a finicky install

- 2-3G would be recommended on a Vista box

Here is what I am really wondering: This store will be operating the db and one additional lane on WinXP, the third lane would be Vista - conflicts/unnecessary headaches?

Jeff - You come through once again!!! I can not thank you enough. This is very straight forward as we are still on 1.3flat (too many ar issues w/ Refresh).

Let's say we were on 1.3R or 2.0, there really no compability issues if db resides on WinXP machine and new lane is on Vista...?

which version of Vista do you recommend??

thanks

"Jeff @ Check Po> Jocelyn,

the "Refresh " version for SQL compatibility. Must run SQL2k5 and not MSDE of earlier versions of RMS.

as it won?t use it, unless you use the 64 bit version.

pestering.

What about having the DB on a Vista box and our two registers on XP? I would think that should be fine also?
